Photo elements to create electronic characters Original live action shot on 65mm black and white motion picture film. The individual frames were then projected onto special film cells made by Kodak. The cells went through a film developer to create Hi-con positives and negatives. Hi-con meaning the black was totally opaque and the white areas become totally clear film. The cells were then hand painted to isolate the individual elements (basic body color, the glowing circuits, the whites of the eyes and teeth, the facial skin color, . Each isolated element was photographed as a separate exposure. The cells were back-lit by a light box and photographed frame per frame with an animation camera. By using Color gels and special lens filters and by animating the exposures of the camera for each element we could create the electric glowing look of the characters in the electronic world. _blank
